Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Ceremonial Dance

Comments - Interesting depiction of dancers performing during a Shinto religious ceremony for a group of noblemen. Dressed in matching attire, the woman strike poses with pine branches in hand. Musicians playing drums and flutes line the stage. In the center, a tiered altar is set with offerings, and racks on either side hold bows, arrows, and swords. Zigzag paper streamers used for ritual purification, called shide, hang around the room. An interesting subject, nicely composed.
