Series; Young and Steady Characters from the Past and the Present

Worried Man and Young Girl, 1855 - Interesting kabuki scene featuring a worried young man looking up with a frown as he holds a sword upright before him. He wears a violet kimono with striped gray and green insets over a red under robe, a purple sash tied around his forehead. The circular inset above shows a young girl looking over her shoulder with a distraught expression, her mouth slightly agape and a book in her hand. Oversize wisteria blossoms against the night sky create a striking background. Nice expressive figures. The first time we've seen this design.
