Prince Genji Admiring His Painting, 1869 - Charming scene of Prince Genji leaning back to admire a portrait of a courtesan that he has just finished painting. He grins happily, a brush in one hand and dishes of pigment scattered around the floor nearby. Behind him, a beauty holds a blank panel for his next painting, while at left, a woman carries in a dish of food. The room overlooks a lovely garden with a pond framed by blossoming cherry trees. An attractive design with wonderful detail in the household setting. Includes faint embossing the beauty's pale pink kimono in the center.
