Etiquette and Manners for Girls, 1890

Comments - Lovely Chikanobu design of upper-class beauties serving refreshments to their guests as they instruct young girls in proper etiquette and manners. At left, a woman holds out a shallow red lacquer cup as a girl pours sake into it from a small kettle. In the center, a beauty in an intricately patterned orange kimono carries a tobacco set, while a girl a girl kneeling beside her holds a tray with chopsticks and a covered bowl. At right, a beauty offers a young girl a selection of sweets on a lacquer tray. A low folding screen features a scene of birds flying above a stream, and an ornate container holds a lovely floral arrangement at left. An attractive design with vivid color and touches of lacquer.
