Original Hiromitsu Nakazawa (1874 - 1964) Japanese Woodblock Print
Doorway

Sketch Tour Books - Sketch tour books depicting travelers and scenic views became popular in Japan in the early 20th-century, and Hiromitsu Nakazawa was one of the most well-known artists to work in the genre. A Western-style painter and illustrator, Nakazawa's first sketch tour woodblocks were published in 1905, followed by contributions to multiple volume series by various artists between 1906 and 1912. His designs are rendered in a painterly style, with soft muted colors contrasting with lively calligraphic line work. These attractive designs capture the immediacy and freshness of a sketch, and are a nice example of Nakazawa's work in the shin-hanga sketch tour genre.
