A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Kuniyoshi Prints - One of the great masters of ukiyo-e woodblocks, Kuniyoshi is perhaps best known for his warrior prints, but he worked in a range of subjects. In addition to dramatic samurai and battle scenes, he also created kabuki, beauty, landscape, and comic designs, each expertly drawn and composed. Don't miss this opportunity to acquire a classic woodblock by this great Edo era artist at a low opening bid price.

Bando Shuka I as Hisamatsu, 1848 - Intriguing scene of Bando Shuka I as Hisamatsu, a young apprentice to the Aburaya pawnshop who has scandalously fallen in love with the owner's daughter, Osome. Here he brandishes a sword with a sly smile, looking out of the corners of his eyes. He strikes a pose in front of a large hole in a wall, broken chunks of plaster on the floor behind him. There is graffiti on the wall above his head, a realistic touch. An interesting subject with an expressive figure.
