Comments - Bold kabuki scene of two yakko or footmen carrying aloft a black lacquer trunk. They hold it above the head of their fellow servant, who looks up with an angry frown as foxfires dance in the night sky around them, a symbol of a supernatural occurrence taking place. Each figure has his black kimono pushed down to the waist, the distinctive striped collar and crest on the shoulder identifying his station. A great design, beautifully detailed with burnishing on the trunk and the black kimono, and embossing on the white crests. The first time we've seen this striking design.
