Series; Twenty-four Enjoyments of Beauties of the Present Day
Fond of Festivals, 1863 - Lovely portrait of a beauty looking down over her shoulder with a smile, a toothpick in her mouth and a roll of tissues in one hand. Her outer robe features a festival procession with a float of a rooster atop a large drum, the matching hats of festival participants visible below. A candle burns on a stand at left, with an elegant lacquer tobacco set on the floor nearby. The square inset at upper right includes one of the hats seen on the beauty's robe. A charming design from a rarely seen Toyokuni III series, detailed with embossing on the white kimono collar and soft shading on the background.
