Samurai Leaning over a Balcony, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting night kabuki scene of a samurai leaning over a balcony railing, frowning angrily as he grips his cased sword in one hand. His head is unshaven, with short hair sticking up atop it, and a shadow where his beard has not been shaved, either. In another room at upper left, a young boy also looks out into the courtyard, a sad frown on his face. An interesting setting, nicely detailed.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)
