Comments - Beautiful scene of Prince Genji and two women relaxing on a verandah at night, enjoying a view of the moon. The young nobleman sits on a cushion holding a shakuhachi flute, one elbow resting on the railing as he looks out over the water. The beauty at right smiles shyly behind her sleeve, holding a fan with a Genji symbol on it. A koto sits on the floor before her, the promise of musical entertainment to come. At left, another beauty ties up a reed blind, a mokkin or Japanese xylophone resting at her feet, the instrument beautifully decorated. A full moon glows softly in the evening sky above the silhouettes of trees along the shore. A lovely Edo era print, beautifully drawn with wonderful detail in the household furnishings and soft shading in the trees.
