Enjoying the Cool of the Evening by the Shijo Bridge - Attractive scene of beauties enjoying the cool of the evening along the river by the Shijo Bridge. The river location in the summertime was a lovely place to escape the heat. At left, a seated woman holds a red lacquer sake cup while at lower right, another beauty leans over the edge of the platform to launch a floating firework. A wonderful view of this traditional activity, detailed with delicate embossing in the gently undulating water.
