Wedding Ceremony, 1895 - Beautiful triptych depicting part of a wedding ceremony. In the center, a beauty presents an object on an offering tray to the bride at left, who kneels on a cushion, looking down with a sweet smile. The groom sits at right wearing formal court dress, his black robe beautifully burnished with a delicate scroll pattern. A low table in the center holds a bonsai pine tree, cranes, plum blossoms, and gold coins, auspicious symbols for the new couple. Wonderful color and intricate detail in the sumptuous fabrics, including embossing in the white areas of the robes and burnishing in the beauties' hair. A lovely Chikanobu image.
