Nakamura Utaemon IV as the Ghost of Otaka Shuzen and Iwai Kumesaburo as Innami Kazuma, 1848

Comments - Bold kabuki scene featuring Nakamura Utaemon IV as the ghost of Otaka Shuzen, appearing in a cloud of flames to the young boy Innami Kazuma, played by Iwai Kumesaburo. The spirit looks over his shoulder with a grim frown, his face shaded in blue to indicate his otherworldliness. The boy looks up in surprise, throwing his hands out in alarm. A great supernatural scene from the play "Takagi Oriemon" at the Nakamura Theater.
