Yamashiro Province: Ono no Komachi, circa 1845 - Charming scene of the Heian era poet Ono no Komachi looking into a large mirror held by an attendant. She smiles as she glides a comb through her long hair, holding her blue print kimono closed at the waist, a fan in her hand. The attendant wears a patterned white kimono tucked into flowing pants, the orange pigment oxidized to a dark tone, her ponytail trailing onto the floor behind her. An inset above shows the courtyard of a palace at Yamashiro with cherry trees in bloom. An attractive design, nicely detailed.
