Comments - Lovely scene of Prince Genji and beauties on a spring day preparing to play music. In the center, a kneeling woman holds a koto, smiling as she looks up at the young nobleman. He sits on a cushion with a small black lacquer stand on the floor before him. At right, a beauty chats with her companions as a young girl behind her carries in a tobacco set. A window seat opens onto a garden with a blossoming plum tree, which can also be seen through the doorway at right. A charming design with wonderful detail in the fabrics and elegant interior. The first time we've seen this attractive subject.
