Kuniyoshi Prints - One of the great masters of ukiyo-e woodblocks, Kuniyoshi is perhaps best known for his warrior prints, but he worked in a range of subjects. In addition to dramatic samurai and battle scenes, he also created kabuki, beauty, landscape, and comic designs, each expertly drawn and composed. Don't miss this opportunity to acquire a classic woodblock by this great Edo era artist at a low opening bid price.

Ichikawa Ebizo V as the Red Lion Dancer, 1847 - Terrific kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Ebizo V as a red lion dancer in the play "Shiki utsushi tosae no futsutsuka." He stands with one foot atop a low platform, stretching out the sleeves of his blue kimono patterned with waterwheels. His red wig blows around his face, and his yellow stage makeup gives him an eerie appearance. Large red and blue peony blossoms enhance the soft gray background. A great bold figure, nicely colored and detailed.
