Birds, 1847 - 1852 - Charming portrait of a beauty on a verandah, smiling as she looks up over her shoulder. She rests one hand on a wooden post, holding her sleeve to her chin with the other. Her kimono is patterned with large wisteria blossoms, worn over a red under robe and tied with a print obi. Clusters of flowers and ribbons adorn her hair. An ornate lantern hangs at upper left, decorated with tassels, and striped sails can be seen on the water beyond. An attractive design, nicely detailed.
