Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Illustration of the Third National Industrial Exposition, 1890

Comments - Terrific image of the Meiji Emperor members of the court arriving at the Third National Industrial Exposition held at Ueno Park in Tokyo in 1890. In the center, a young prince stands in the center of a group of ladies-in-waiting, who wear the latest European fashions with bustled skirts, gloves, and bonnets adorned with flowers and ribbons. At left, the Emperor wears a military uniform with a sash across the chest and a cap with a feather atop it. Other officers and dignitaries accompany the group. Blossoming cherry trees frame the scene. A handsome illustration of an historic event, nicely detailed. The first time we've offered this triptych.
