View of a Parliamentary Meeting, 1889

Comments - Handsome depiction of the Japanese Imperial Diet meeting in 1889. The Diet or Japanese legislature first met in 1889 after the adoption of the Meiji Constitution. At far left, the Emperor sits on a plush red chair trimmed with fringe on a small platform as a member stands before him, several clerks taking notes. The members are seated in concentric rows on the floor of the building, with a gallery for visitors above. An intriguing historic image with fine detail in the architectural setting.

Artist - Nobukazu (1874 - 1944)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 27 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Vertical centerfold in center panel, horizontal centerfolds. A few small stains. Please see photos for details.
