Tattooed Commoner with a Knife

Comments - Intriguing kabuki scene of a commoner gripping a huge knife, a young boy grabbing his arm from behind to prevent him from using it. He glares angrily at the youth, who smiles back at him as he stands on tiptoe. The commoner has an upper arm tattoo that appears to be the face of a demon with horns, and swirling clouds. At right, a waitress carries a pair of sandals and a handled box, a striped apron tied around her waist and a white towel draped over one shoulder. From left, the actors are Onoe Matsugoro, Onoe Kikugoro, and Iwai Matsunosuke. An interesting design.
