Comments - Great kabuki scene featuring Ichikawa Danjuro as Kato Kiyomasa and Nakamura Fukusuke IV as his daughter, Hinaginu in a play in the third month at the Kabukiza or Kabuki Theater in Tokyo. They are shown on a boat, with the samurai grimacing angrily as he looks up, a sword in his hand. He wears a red and yellow kamishimo with dragon motifs over a black kimono with a beautiful burnished geometric pattern. The young beauty plays koto, leaning over the instrument with a slight smile, seemingly unaware of her father's anger. A bold image with large colorful figures and a red boat set against undulating waves. The first time we've seen this terrific design.
