1918 One Hundred Famous Views of Edo prints by publisher Uo-ya Eikichi - These prints are from a beautiful posthumous reprint release of Hiroshige prints by the original series publisher Uo-ya Eikichi. In 1918, Uo-ya Eikichi re-released a complete set of Hiroshige’s "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" in a small edition, with prints of the highest quality rivaling those of the lifetime edition. Using only the most skilled printers and carefully matching the paper and inks to the Edo era printing. This masterwork series includes some of Hiroshige's most famous and memorable subjects. Today, these prints are valuable and sought after by collectors. As Hiroshige's lifetime prints have continued to climb in price, this wonderful 1918 edition from Uo-ya Eikichi offers a great opportunity to collect these original Hiroshige designs at a much lower price. If you have always wanted to collect from Hiroshige's "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo," but find lifetime Hiroshige masterworks outside of your price range, take advantage of this excellent opportunity. These breathtaking works are a rare find.

Yanagishima - Handsome view of a group of women with matching umbrellas making their way down a busy street on their way to view cherry blossoms. The large building on the corner is the silk store "Ito Matsuzakaya," and two delivery men are just setting off with packs of goods on their backs, wrapped in blue cloth bearing the shop's crest. At bottom center, a group of samurai can be identified by their two swords. In the distance, a cloud edged with rose and blue drifts across the deep green of a tree-covered hill. Attractively colored with wonderful architectural detail.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)
