Matsumoto Kinsho I as Nikki Danjo, 1849 - Terrific kabuki portrait of Matsumoto Kinsho I as the evil magician Nikki Danjo returning to human form. Danjo transformed himself into a rat to sneak into a palace and steal an incriminating scroll, and here, he twists his hands to conjure up a spell, appearing in a cloud of smoke with the scroll caught between his teeth. A great design.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 10" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. A few small tears at edges and holes, repaired. Toning, soiling, creasing, staining. Please see photos for details.
