Bando Mitsugoro IV as Okane, and Falcon with a Child, 1866

Comments - Unusual kabuki scene featuring Bando Mitsugoro IV as the beauty Okane in the foreground carrying a wooden tub of laundry under her arm. She looks up with a sly expression, a blue cloth caught between her teeth. At upper right, an enormous falcon with a child tucked under its wing flies across the night sky. At upper left, the sight has interrupted a man about to commit suicide, who looks up with a frown while his wife waves a hand before her, gesturing to the boy. Kunichika designed the figure while Kuniteru II contributed the background. An intriguing subject with wonderful detail in the bird's feathers.
