Comments - Lovely Edo era hashira-e or pillar print featuring portraits of the courtesans Hanamurasaki and Konoito of the Tamaya. Above, Hanamurasaki looks down with a smile, her hair pulled into two large loops adorned with a comb and many hairpins. Below, Konoito grins back up at her as she plays a shamisen. An attractive beauty design in a rarely seen format, also in the collection of the British Museum.
