Ichikawa Danjuro IX as Shibata Katsuie, 1876

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro IX as the samurai Shibata Katsuie, leaning forward with an enraged expression, his chin thrust out defiantly. He wears a purple kimono patterned with bamboo, yellow leaves, and blossoms, tucked into brown pants. His graying hair is pulled back into an upright knot, tightly bound with white cord. A nice expressive figure, detailed with embossing on the cord.

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Vertical fold. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
