Sumiyoshi Festival, Tsukudajima - Dramatic design depicting the Sumiyoshi Festival on Tsukudajima Island. In the foreground, a banner celebrates the shrine deity with the inscription "Sumiyoshi Daimyojin," followed by the names of the donors. In the middle ground at left, young men carry a sacred palanquin through the shallow water and green reeds along the marshy shore. Beautifully detailed with delicate cloth embossing on the banner, and fine bokashi shading. A great image with an unusual composition.
