A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Ishiyakushi - Beautiful scene of travelers making their way through the snow towards Ishiyakushi. Snow falls heavily against the dark gray sky, blanketing the rider on horseback and the cargo on either side of his saddle. A groom leads the horse by the reins, wearing a straw mat as protection from the elements, while the fellow at left wears a straw raincoat. The rooftops of the village can be seen in the distance. A handsome reprint design from Hiroshige's rarely seen Gyosho Tokaido series, published by Watanabe with circular seal within image at lower left.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 7 5/8" x 12 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - Excellent overall with no issues to report.
