Original Shusui Taki (born 1938) Japanese Woodblock Print
November: Flower in Colored Leaves

Series; Twelve Months of Girls

Twelve Months of Girls - Born in 1938, Shusui Taki did not begin making woodblock prints until he was in his 50s. Inspired by the beauty prints of ukiyo-e master Kesai Eisen, he created his first series "Twelve Months of Girls." These large format designs feature a young woman for each month, typically set against a muted background focusing all attention on the figure. In the sosaku hanga tradition, Taki carves and prints each design himself, showing wonderful attention to detail and a mastery of the complex woodblock printing process. His works are highly desirable and rarely seen outside Japan. These striking designs would make terrific framed displays. A great choice for a collector interesting in contemporary Japanese woodblocks or beauty prints.
