Thirty-six Selected Beauties - Reflecting back on the classic beauty prints of the previous era, Toshikata's lovely "Thirty-six Beauties" series illustrates the daily activities of women from various time periods and walks of life. A geisha practicing the shamisen, a beauty in her private quarters, an entertainer crossing the river on a ferry--these charming scenes wonderfully capture life in Japan throughout the ages. Beautifully printed, many of the images feature deluxe techniques such as delicate embossing or burnishing, along with soft bokashi shading. A delightful series, great for collecting or as a wonderful display in any room.

Special detail - Embossing on the white kimono, burnishing on the black lacquer table.

Condition - This print with nice color and detail as shown. Backed with somewhat stiff paper. Slight soiling, some prints have a few creases or spots. Please see photos for details.
