Original Tanaka Kichinosuke (1897 - ?) Japanese Woodblock Print
Zinnia

Series; One Hundred Lightly-colored Flowers

One Hundred Lightly-colored Flowers - Charming design from a floral series by Tanaka Kichinosuke titled "One Hundred Lightly-colored Flowers." Totaling 100 woodblocks, the series was published by Happodo in 1964 - 1965 in two volumes of 50 prints each, one for spring and summer, and one for autumn and winter. These attractive modern images emphasize calligraphic brushwork and an interesting use of negative space to creating striking designs, with a spare, Zen-like quality. Some featuring subtle mica backgrounds or a scattering of metallic gold flecks. Printed on heavy paper. A nice choice for display, either singly or in groups.
