Thirty-six Selected Beauties - Reflecting back on the classic beauty prints of the previous era, Toshikata's lovely "Thirty-six Beauties" series illustrates the daily activities of women from various time periods and walks of life. A geisha practicing the shamisen, a beauty in her private quarters, an entertainer crossing the river on a ferry--these charming scenes wonderfully capture life in Japan throughout the ages. Beautifully printed, many of the images feature deluxe techniques such as delicate embossing or burnishing, along with soft bokashi shading. A delightful series, great for collecting or display.

Special detail - Embossing on the beauty's kimono and the cat's fur.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Toning, a few creases a couple stains in margin, red seal on reverse. Please see photos for details.
