Series; A Contest of the Top of the Shin Yoshiwara

The Courtesan Hanaogi of the Ogiya, circa 1828 - 1832 - Lovely portrait of the courtesan Hanaogi of the Ogiya during an evening stroll in the Shin Yoshiwara. She pauses to looks back over her shoulder, two large lanterns on the ground behind her. She wears a green outer kimono patterned with grasses and plovers in flight over a red under robe, tied with a striking black obi featuring a dragon and swirling clouds and flames. Cherry blossoms in white frame the scene above. A terrific Edo era beauty design from a rarely seen Kuniyasu series.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Tiny loss at corner, a couple small holes, repaired. Toning, slight soiling and creasing, a couple wrinkles. Please see photos for details.
