A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Hiroshige's Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji - In Japan, Mt. Fuji is a sacred place and a symbol of the country itself. Rising majestically near the center of Japan, Fuji dominates the landscape and the Japanese national identity. Hiroshige’s wonderful Fuji views show the mountain in each of the four seasons from a variety of vantage points. Hiroshige utilized a vertical full oban format to create dramatic and breathtaking views of this most revered landmark, often framing the peak From the urban city center of Edo to cherry blossom viewing in a small village to the fantastic crashing wave off Satta, the mountain remains a constant, serene presence from both near and far. Seen less frequently than some of his more well-known series, "Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji" ranks as one of Hiroshige's best vertical format series.

This Reprint Edition - The Goto Association for Preserving Ukiyo-e commissioned the Adachi Publisher to create this beautiful reprint edition of Hiroshige's "Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji." Ichibei Iwano, a Japanese Living National Treasure, made the Echizen-hosho paper, Hambei Okura carved selected cherry wood blocks, and Katomro Murata printed the designs, under the supervision of publisher Toyohisa Adachi. Each print bears the Adachi Publisher seal on the reverse. A wonderful opportunity to collect a classic Hiroshige subject, beautifully reprinted
