Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Cherry Blossom Viewing

Comments - Charming scene of beauties on an outing to view the blossoming cherry trees. The two women in the foreground pause along the edge of an embankment to chat, one carrying a Western style umbrella trimmed with fringe. Both wear black leather boots, the latest fashion from Europe. An arched stone bride leads to an island with teahouses, red paper lanterns adding a festive air. An attractive spring subject, nicely detailed.
