Mitsui-gumi's Five-Story, Western-Style Bank in Kabuto-gai, Kaiunbashi, Tokyo - Terrific view five-story Mitsui-gumi House which housed the First National Bank at Kaiunbashi in the Kabuto-gai financial district. Built in 1872, the Western-style lower floors are topped with a miniature castle reflecting shogunate style, complete with a tiled roof featuring leering demon ornaments. The imposing structure is surrounded with a fenced courtyard enclosing a garden. Visitors and business men crowd the entrance and the balcony. A fantastic image of this modern Meiji building, beautifully detailed and attractively colored.
