Strange Tales of the Bow Moon - Written by the prolific Edo era novelist Bakin and published in multiple volumes between 1807 - 1811, "Strange tales of the Bow Moon" (Chinsetsu yumihari-tsuki) recounts the adventures of the noted archer Minamoto no Tametomo during the Hogen rebellion. Hokusai provided illustrations for the tale. This volume features 3 black and white diptychs. An interesting example of Hokusai's book illustrations.

Image Size - Diptychs 7 1/2" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown; overall size 8 7/8" x 6" x 1/2"

Condition - Prints with good detail as shown. Remargined at bottom edges. Soiling, creasing, rubbing, a few pages have losses at edges. Missing inside front and back covers, black paper on back cover partially missing. Please see photos for details.
