The Story of the Night Attack of the Loyal Retainers of Ako - Handsome portrait of one of the famous 47 ronin from the series "The Story of the Night Attack of the Loyal Retainers of Ako (Ako-gishi youchi-banashi). These small format woodblocks feature individual figures surrounded by text, rendered in black, gray, and rust. First published in 1869 by Takanashi Yasaburo of Tokyo, the prints in this group come from a Meiji 16 (1883) edition. The first time we've seen these rare Yoshitoshi designs.

Condition - This print with good color and detail as shown. Stitching holes at side. Slight toning. Some prints have a few spots or marks, or a couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
