White Heron and Iris - Lovely Hiroshige kacho-e or birds and flowers subject of a white heron in flight above irises blooming at the edge of a pond. The sky and water are softly shaded. A classic design beautifully suited to the vertical otanzaku or large poem slip format. The poem above reads:

White herons fly low across the fields, like a thousand flakes of snow;
Yellow birds perch on the tree, like flowers clustered on a branch.
