The Enticing Scene of a Plum Garden in Evening, 1857

Comments - Handsome scene of a party gathering under a blossoming plum tree as night falls. At left, a servant lifts a young boy up on his shoulder so he can tie a poem slip onto a tree branch. A samurai stands next to him holding a softly glowing lantern, a brush in his mouth and a sheaf of papers in his hand. At right, a beauty watches the child with a delighted smile on her face, a folded cloth draped over her arm. A lovely evening scene with the delicate flowers contrasting nicely against the gray sky, and a small stream winding through the landscape.
