Uedo Mokuhanga printing

Uedo Mokuhanga printing - This print is from a special edition printing of shin-hanga landscape masterworks from the artists Hasui and Koitsu printed by the publisher Uedo Mokuhanga. In the early 1960s Uedo Mokuhanga re-released a set of twenty-seven famous shin-hanga landscape prints. These beautiful designs were printed from the original blocks and are a nice opportunity to collect some of the most stunning landscapes of the shin-hanga period.

Comments - Beautiful view of Hakozaki Hachimangu Temple in Fukuoka. The curved roof of the impressive building rises above a second story verandah, two lanterns on poles flanking the entrance. The tall trees at left cast dappled shadows over the grounds, and two young women stroll quietly towards the left. A lovely scene with beautiful handling of the light and shadows.

Artist - Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870 - 1949)

Image Size - 15 1/4" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown
