Beauty Combing Her Hair

Comments - Lovely Utamaro design of a beauty kneeling before a mirror stand, using a comb to put the finishing touches on her elegant hairstyle. An attendant carries a kimono over her shoulder and a small purse dangling from her lips. A symbol from the Tale of Genji appears at upper left. A charming Edo era beauty subject, rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Eishi (1756 - 1829)

Image Size - 14 5/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Very nice overall.
