Creating Bonseki - Lovely triptych of young beauties practicing the art of bonseki, creating miniature landscapes on black lacquer trays using white sand, pebbles, and small rocks. The kneeling beauty at center uses a feather to add details to the sand, other tools and supplies for bonseki laid out around her. A completed scene sits on the low table behind her. The women are elegantly attired in beautifully colored and patterned kimono. A charming look at this ancient Japanese art form with fine burnished detail on the hair and black lacquer trays.
