Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Prince Genji Paying a Visit, 1857

Comments - Attractive triptych depicting Prince Genji paying a visit to an elegant home overlooking the water. He kneels in the doorway, having just washed his hands in a basin of water set next to the entry, smiling over his shoulder as a young girl brings him a towel. At left, a kneeling woman arranges flowers, eyeing a blossom critically as she holds a pair of scissors. At lower right, a servant greets a young man delivering a letter in a small black lacquer box tied with a red tasseled cord. Beautiful architectural detail in the setting. A handsome design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 29"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. Vertical folds. Small loss at corner, a few small holes, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
