Butterfly and Tree Peony

Kyoto Hanga-in - Founded in 1935, Kyoto Hanga-in produced high quality reprints of works by classic ukiyo-e artists like Hiroshige, Hokusai, Harunobu, Utamaro, and Sharaku, along with shin-hanga prints by artists such as Tsuchiya Koitsu, Bakufu Ohno, and Gihachiro Okuyama.

Comments - Lovely shin-hanga design of two large peony blossoms with a small yellow butterfly flitting through the sky above. The petals of the flowers are beautifully detailed and softly shaded, set off by the deep green leaves surrounding them. The first time we've seen this beautiful Bakufu Ohno kacho-e or birds and flowers subject.
