Tanabata Festival

Comments - Charming image of women and children preparing for the Tanabata Festival. At right, a girl sits at a cloth-covered table writing poem slips with wishes on them to tie to a large stalk of bamboo. The boy behind her carries an oversize brush dipped in ink. At left, a boy in a striped kimono attaches long colorful streams to the stalk, which will be place upright outside during the festival. A wonderfully detailed depiction of a traditional Japanese holiday celebration.
