The series compiles some of the best images from a variety series by several Meiji era artists, including works by Gekko, Kiyochika, and Shuntei Miyagawa. These handsome subjects range from the earliest emperors to legendary warriors and heroes, noblemen, and beauties. Beautifully and realistically drawn with expressive figures and fine detail, these great images present a wonderful record of Japan's history.
