Comments - Interesting scene from a play at the Kabukiza or Kabuki Theater in Tokyo of a samurai sneaking up on a middle-aged man, thrusting a spear at him. The younger man frowns angrily as he looks up, a black cloth wrapped around his head and his kimono tucked up at the back. The older samurai impatiently slaps the palm of his hand with a folding fan, his open mouth showing missing teeth and his graying hair pulled back into a slender topknot. Maple leaves from the scene above. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Yaozo and Ichikawa Danjuro. Expressive figures.
