Nakamura Fukusuke I as Ukiyo Inosuke, 1858 - Great kabuki portrait of Nakamura Fukusuke I as the commoner Ukiyo Inosuke, kneeling beside a lamp reading a letter. He looks up over his shoulder with an angry grimace, the long message stretched out between his hands. At center left, rooftops are silhouetted in black against the dark night sky, with a crescent moon framed by the graceful branches of a willow tree overhead. An attractive design with fine bokashi shading.
