Comments - Beautiful triptych depicting the famous ninth-century poet Ono no Komachi standing on a verandah with a poem slip and brush in hand. She looks out over the pond and garden dotted with flowering cherry trees, composing a verse about the view. A young attendant kneels beside her holding a tray with an ink stone on it, while another girl leans over the verandah railing. Court ladies wearing white kimono tucked into red pants kneel nearby, while other can be seen carrying in offering trays laden with sweets at left. Beautifully colored and detailed. A lovely scene from courtly life, detailed with light embossing on the white kimono.
